Joy of Reunion - Print

Artwork Meaning:

This artwork was designed to celebrate family connection and relationship and more specifically the joy that is experienced when family is reunited after being apart for some time.

The two whales represent a parent and children relationship. The whales look similar in parts because they are from the same family however each have their own unique features to reflect different life journeys and experiences.

The part of the whales in the water are colourful and the design is detailed however the tail that is out of the water is plain. This is done to capture what is seen when families are reunited. On the surface one might see a simple hug or kiss however the emotion that is bubbling under the surface is excitement, joy, warmth and a sense of belonging.
The spray outside of the water represents the process of sharing stories and memories with each other, the laughter and joy and at times sorrow.

The spray of the whales are different colours (one light blue and one white) the two sprays come out of the water and cross over showing that the memories made and the stories shared are now part of the other persons journey and create a shared experience.
