Keep Me Where The Light Is - Print

Artwork Meaning:

As the title suggests this artwork aims to capture the way family and friends help guide and support us so we can stay in the light. The artwork is designed to capture a friends journey with mental health and her amazing strength as well as the strength and love of those around her.

The turtles are swimming together towards the light up from the darkness. The parents are leading the way with siblings and friends swimming alongside and behind. We were not created to do life alone and this artwork captures that. The background has been painted twice, once using darker blues into lighter blues as you move towards the top and then it has been dotted over with shades of blue and green to show movement and the different currents of life.

In the background behind the centre turtle there is the shape of a butterfly. This represents the Holy Spirit working in her life and guiding her towards the light, providing direction and protection as she moves through life’s currents. The light coming through the water at the top of the art work represents God. The light is beaming through the water showing the way, the truth and the life. When the light starts the dots in the background stop.

There are no dots over the light this is to pay respect to the holiness and pure nature of the light. The beams of light coming through the water also represent Jesus. In John 1:5 it says: “The Light (Jesus) shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
