Artwork Meaning:
This artwork took 63 hours to create and was design to honour my mother-in-laws 24 years of primary school teaching. The central tree represents the school’s growth and the safe, nurturing environment it provides. The boomerang canopy symbolises protection and the students’ daily journey between home, classroom, and school community, shown through the connected circles. Purple and yellow—are her favourite colours—reflect her lasting impact, while her initials engraved on the tree mark her legacy.

The animals (Owl, Cockatoo, Platypus, and Blue Tongue Lizard) represent the school mascots and students, all moving toward the tree. The river, earth, and hills symbolise the local landscape, community, and the ups and downs of learning. The sky, blending light and dark blue, shows both day and night and represents the school’s colours and ongoing growth.
